Computer Basics - Transcript
In this presentation I will tell you some things about computers I will cover Computer No No s some keys on a keyboard ports and plugs a mouse acronyms and some things inside a computer
There are some things that you should not do to your computer These things are called Computer No No s
The first Computer No No is never turn a computer off in the middle of a program You must shut it off in the correct way The second thing is never take a disk or CD ROM out of its drive until the light is off
The third thing is to never turn off a computer and turn it back on without waiting 60 seconds The fourth thing is to never have a magnet around a computer It will erase memory and destroy the monitor
The fifth thing is to never force a disk to go in the computer The sixth thing is to never have food or drinks around a computer The last Computer No No is to always turn a computer off before connecting any hardware
When you clean a mouse you will need Q Tips and alcohol The first step is screw off the back panel When you screw it off you will notice a small ball Take out the ball and clean it with some alcohol Clean the little rollers inside also
After you clean everything in the mouse place the ball back in the mouse Screw the back panel on and you are finished
There are many keys on a keyboard If you ever might need to use the number pad you have to have the Num Lock on If your computer ever freezes up you can use Ctrl ALT and DELETE
Acronyms stand for long words in a computer M O U S E stands for Manually Oscillating Utensil Sonically Engaged A DVD drive stands for Digital Versatile Drive The word ROM means it has a Read Only Memory
Ram stands for Random Access Ram Memory The last acronym I am going Memory to talk about is CPU which stands for Central Processing Unit Unit
There are three basic ports inside a computer These ports enable you to connect internal or external devices to the computer A parallel port is used to connect printers zip drives and digital cameras
A serial port connects everything that a parallel port can but printers The last basic port is a PS2 port It is used to connect different kinds of mice
There is a male plug and a female plug You need to know the difference between them because if you plug a male plug into another male plug it would bend the connectors
When my group first opened a computer I was shocked It looked so empty the opposite of what I thought As we got deeper into the computer we noticed that there were many ports and plugs
When we took out the cards in a dead computer the first thing that popped into my mind was a village It looked someone had built a model of something The little things that stick up on the card looked like little buildings
I hope that you liked my hope presentation
